ANU Student Central Brand Guidelines

Role: Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Student Central

Problem/Opportunity:

  • Lack of awareness of ANU Student Central

  • Concerns that important administrative information is lost / overlook due to information overload

Solution: Establish brand guidelines for ANU Student Central that will inform all marketing and communications collateral developed moving forward.

Student Central plays an important role in assisting students with the administrative side of their ANU degree. The team manages a wide range of administrative processes from orientation and student cards, to examinations and graduation. As such, it was important to communicate to students in an interesting, effective and engaging way.

ANU Student Central did not have a consistent brand look and feel, which meant that it was very difficult for students to understand what communications came from the team. This posed a huge risk for the team, as important administrative information may be missed.

With this in mind, I established the ANU Student Central Brand Guidelines to make our communications more professional and recognisable to new and continuing students. The guidelines are the foundation for all marketing and communications moving forward, and is continuously referenced when developing emails, webinars, t-shirts, video content and more.

As a result, Student Central now has a proper brand identity, with new and continuing students being able to clearly recognise the important messages that come from the team. This has led to more students getting a better understanding of the administrative side of their degree, making their time at University a less stressful experience.
